YFM, Ghana’s most influential radio brand among young audiences, in partnership with the Embassy of France in Ghana, has launched FrancoVybz, a new podcast exploring the cultural, creative, educational and business connections between Ghana and the Francophone world.
The 10-episode series seeks to provide a platform for conversation, discovery and cultural exchange, examining how French influence and Francophone culture intersect with Ghanaian life while highlighting France’s partnership with Ghana in the creative, educational and business sectors.
Hosted by award-winning broadcaster and YFM Accra Programmes Manager, Rev. Erskine Amo Whyte, the podcast brings together personalities from Ghana’s creative and cultural industries, as well as experts and practitioners with insights into Ghana’s relationship with the Francophone world.
The programme covers a broad range of topics, including music, pop culture, fashion, cinema, theatre, visual arts, video games, technology and digital culture. It also explores gastronomy and hospitality, Francophone communities in Ghana, entrepreneurship, employability, business and sports.
Through these discussions, FrancoVybz seeks to demonstrate how culture, language, creativity and international collaboration can create opportunities and deepen relations between Ghana and France.
Speaking about the initiative, Rev. Whyte said the podcast was intended to encourage a different conversation about Ghana’s relationship with the Francophone world.
“FrancoVybz is about discovering the connections we already have, the influences we sometimes overlook, and the possibilities that emerge when Ghanaian and French cultures meet,” he said.
He added that each episode was designed to give audiences something to learn, enjoy and view differently.
“It is insightful, it is fun, it is entertaining, and it is a new way to vybe away,” Rev. Whyte stated.
Director of Broadcast at Global Media Alliance, Dr Timothy Karikari, mentioned that the collaboration reflected YFM’s commitment to using its platforms to facilitate meaningful conversations beyond entertainment.
He said youth culture was constantly evolving and was influenced by developments around the world.
“FrancoVybz gives us an opportunity to explore the cultural, creative and professional connections between Ghana and the Francophone world in a way that is relevant to today’s young audience,” he said.
Dr Karikari said the partnership would create opportunities for cultural exchange and discovery while strengthening YFM’s position as a leading voice in Ghana’s youth and urban culture.
FrancoVybz airs on YFM on Saturdays at 3:30 p.m., with a repeat on Wednesdays at 10 p.m.
