Youth condemn calls for resignation of Awutu Senya West MP

Mr Andah

A group calling itself the Concerned Youth of Awutu Senya West have condemned calls for the resignation of the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, George Andah.

This follows calls by another youth group, Patriotic Youth Association in the constituency, who on several occasions have called on the MP to step down claiming he is incompetent.

Spokesperson of the Concerned Youth of Awutu Senya West, Felix Doughan, explained that Mr Andah contrary to other claims, had done a lot for the constituency than past MPs.

“A group that calls itself a patriotic youth association, which doesn’t exist is asking Mr Andah to step down, we will like to tell them that he won’t step down today nor tomorrow, we are a reaffirming our support for Mr Andah for a second term and beyond  because he has delivered beyond our expectation.

“We once had a cabinet minister who was unable to employ anyone from the constituency, did that group come out to condemn her? When we were suffering under her leadership, did the same group come out to condemn her,” Mr Doughan quizzed.

The youth in a separate statement, signed by its President, Ellis Botchwey, also indicated that the recent research by the University of Ghana which claimed that some MPs might lose their seat in the 2020 elections does not apply to their MP, Mr Andah.

According to them, their MP has demonstrated his dedication, determination and commitment to the constituency through infrastructural and human capacity development, and thus calling on the constituents and the nation to disregard the call by the ‘Patriots of Awutu’ call on the MP to resign.

“We urge the public to ignore such publications meant to undermine the hard work of Mr Andah and the president,” the group stated. -citinewsroom.com
