Police Hospital to carry out mass burial of 120 bodies
The Ghana Police Hospital (GPH) in Accra is to carry out a mass burial for 120 unknown and unclaimed bodies, which have been in the mortuary since August, this year.
They include unidentified victims of road accidents, paupers, abandoned bodies, crime victims and unknown patients.
The Head of Communication of the Ghana Police Hospital, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Yaw Nketia-Yeboah, who disclosed these to the Ghanaian Times, in Accra, yesterday, said that the exercise was part of a routine to decongest the hospital mortuary.
He said members of the public have 21 days to contact the pathology department of the hospital for identification and collection of bodies.
“Members of the public, who cannot locate their relations for the past five months, should contact the GPH,” he said, and urged the public to carry on them identification cards for easy identification during emergencies.
“Members of the general public are also encouraged to acquire the habit of always having their national identification cards or that of any organisation on them, to help the police and others easily identify them whenever they are in any health crises or involved in an accident,” DSP Nketia-Yeboah said.
