10-year-old girl murdered by unknown assailants
A ten year old girl, Nyamyo Nartey, was on Friday night murdered by unknown assailants in her mother’s room at Adjei Kojo Sun City, in the Tema West municipality.
The girl’s throat was slit, and stabbed around the naval with her intestines gushing out.
She was found lying in a pool of blood by her 29-year-old mother, Salomey Tekpetey, when she returned from work at about 10:30 pm.
When this reporter visited the scene on Saturday morning, Ms Tekpetey was crying uncontrollably, and kept asking who could have visited such evil on her only child, when she was in good terms with everyone.
The mother said though she hoped the culprit would be found, she rather wished her daughter was brought back to life.
Ms Tekpetey said her daughter had visited her in the night at her food selling joint, and she (mother) asked the daughter to return home.
Some neighbours trooped to the house to sympathise with Ms Tekpetey, and tenants said they were in their rooms sleeping or watching television and did not hear any suspicious noise or sound.
The Divisional Crime Officer for the Ashaiman Division, Superintendent Anthony Adipah, confirmed the story, and called on the public to support the police with information to enable them to arrest perpetrator(s) of the act.
Meanwhile, the body of the girl was deposited at the Tema General Hospital by the Police for autopsy and investigation.
