The police have arrested 12 suspects for allegedly looting and causing damage to property in some parts of the country.
In an engagement with journalists last Sunday, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Grace Ansah-Akro, Director of Public Affairs, Ghana Police Service, said according to preliminary investigations, the suspects attacked some facilities.
She said they also caused damage to state properties, and burnt the Electoral Commission office in Damango of the Savannah Region.
The assailants also caused damage to some residences of District Chief Executives (DEs in some parts of the country and vandalised some collation centres, according to ACP Ansah-Akro.
Additionally, she said some of the suspects also broke into the School Feeding Project warehouse in Tamale of the Northern Region, and made away items and foodstuffs.
ACP Ansah-Akro revealed that footages of the attacks, vandalism and looting had been obtained and were being reviewed by a team of dedicated investigators to get other perpetrators arrested to face justice.
She urged the public to remain calm as the police had been strategically deployed to key locations to intensify patrols to maintain law and order. —GNA
