It said one of them, a university graduate, who had lived in Germany since 2016, told the GIS that he was not bitter about the action, as he was given three months visitor permit, but he overstayed.

“He said he feels disappointed in himself for wasting all these years and has not done anything meaningful with his life”, the statement said.

On the UK case, it said the five deportees had 63 escorts including two paramedics adding that three of them had UK overstay certificates and two had Ghanaian passports.

The statement said concerning the UK case, the deportees lived in the country between five months and 10 years, working and schooling.

All 22 deportees, it said went through the necessary arrival procedures, including screening to authenticate their nationalities and counselling before transported to their various destinations.

KIA Regional Commander of GIS, Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI) Edith Penelope Arhin, advised prospective travellers to travel with requisite documents and return within given period to avoid deportation.
