4 clubs excel in Obuasi colts football league

 Last Sunday marked a celebration of youth football excellence as St. Anovers, Watreso Power FC, Nacoro SC, and Obuasi Lion Boys were crowned champions during a colorful coronation ceremony for the Obuasi East Colts Football League.

In the Colts Premier League category, Obuasi Lion Boys dominated the U13 division, while Nacoro SC achieved an impressive double by securing both the U15 and U17 champi­onships.

The Colts Division One League saw Watreso Power FC demonstrate their development programme’s strength by cap­turing both the U13 and U15 titles, with St. Anovers claiming victory in the U17 division after a competitive season.

Distinguished guests at the ceremony included First Vice Chairman of the National Juvenile Committee (NJC), Joe Salam Abubakar, and NJC Secretary, Tophic Abdul Kadir, highlighting the Ghana Football Association’s ongoing commitment to grassroots development.

Peter Kpolly, CEO of title sponsors Big Peiro, attended the event and expressed pride in supporting youth football. He pledged continued backing for future tournaments while commending teams for their sportsmanship throughout the competition, emphasising how sports foster unity in the community.

Players across all age categories received medals in recognition of their dedication, hard work, and talent displayed throughout the season.

The Ashanti Regional Football Association was rep­resented by their accountant, who attended on behalf of Regional Chairman, Osei Tutu Agyemang (Kotoro).

The 2025 edition of the Obuasi East Colts League has been widely praised as a resounding success, showcasing the district’s growing strength in juvenile football and offering a promising glimpse into the future of Ghanaian football talent.
