66 Artillery Regiment Officers welcomed home on Palm Sunday
THE Palm Sunday celebration in Ho, coincided with a Mission Accomplishment Parade Thanksgiving Religious Parade of the 66 Artillery Regiment.
The service was to welcome the Commanding Officer of the regiment, Lt Col. B.B. Pantoah and Warrant Officer (W.O.) Joseph Awusavi, the unit Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) back home after spending a little over a year on a peace mission in the Democratic Republic (DR) of Congo.
Lt Col. Pantoah and W.O. Awusavi served respectively as commanding officer and RSM of GHANBATT 14 in that country.
The occasion was graced by the Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, and Brigadier General A.Y. Nsiah, General Officer Commanding the Southern Command.
In a sermon, Rev. Ernest Ofori-Debrah of the Methodist/Presbyterian church of the Second Infantry Battalion in Takoradi, urged parents to commit time, resources and zeal towards protecting their children and the family.
He identified the breakdown of family units a major cause of the soaring phenomenon of street children in the country.
“Let us all live up to our responsibilities as parents and live worthy lifestyles for our children to emulate” Rev. Ofori-Debrah said.
Imam Yunus Abdallah, Ghanbatt 14 Imam, in the DR Congo, reminded all and sundry to thank God for his blessings.
He said that mankind often lacked certain favours from Allah because of the persistent failure to acknowledge Allah and thank him for his kindness.
