Accra College of Education graduates 385 student teachers

The Accra College of Education has graduated 385 student teachers at its 3rd Congregation Ceremony for the four-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programme, held in Accra on Friday.
The 2024 cohort recorded no Third Class or Pass degrees.
Fifty-six students attained First Class honours while 251 graduated with Second Class Upper, and 78 obtained Second Class Lower.
Seth Sarpong Abassah emerged as the overall best graduating student and valedictorian with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.88, the highest in the cohort.
Speaking at the ceremony, College Principal Prof. Samuel Atintonno praised the resilience and commitment of the graduating class, describing staff and students as “the heartbeat of the institution.”
He noted that the college equips students not only with professional knowledge but also with skills to contribute to nation-building. Prof. Atintonno stressed the importance of education in addressing global challenges, including climate change and social dynamics, and urged graduates to uphold the values of the teaching profession.
In his valedictory address, Abassah attributed his success to discipline, perseverance, and faith.
A former student of Kumasi Academy and Domeabra Penworth Basic School, he recounted leadership roles held during his pre-tertiary education and his longstanding passion for nurturing young minds.
Specialising in Geography and Social Studies under the B.Ed. in Junior High School Education programme, he described his college experience as transformative, noting that even setbacks, such as an unsuccessful SRC presidency bid, contributed to his growth.
