Adopt biblical principles at work for national growth — BSG
THE Bible Society of Ghana (BSG) has officially launched Bible Week 2026, with a call on Ghanaians to adopt biblical principles in the workplace as a pathway to national development.
The theme for this year’s celebration, “The Bible: Guide for Work Ethics and National Development,” is aimed at encouraging both Christians and the general public to reflect on the role of biblical values in fostering responsible work attitudes and contributing to national growth.
Speaking at the launch at the Tema Community 6 Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church, the General Secretary of the BSG, Very Rev. Dr John Kwesi Addo Jnr, in a speech read on his behalf, stressed that adherence to biblical values could help address persistent workplace challenges such as indiscipline, low productivity, unprofessional conduct and weak accountability.
“God, in His wisdom, reaches the human heart most deeply when His Word is heard and understood in the language of the heart,” he said.
“The Word of God provides a sure example for conduct in the workplace and for building a highly productive and prosperous nation,” he added.
“Work is an expression of worship to God. When honesty, diligence, stewardship, compassion and accountability shape our work ethics, we lay a solid moral and spiritual foundation for sustainable national development,” Dr Addo Jnr stated.
He further encouraged Christians to read the Bible in their mother tongue, explaining that understanding Scripture in one’s own language deepens faith and enables practical application in families, communities and workplaces.
The General Secretary also expressed gratitude to BSG’s member churches, partner organisations and individual supporters for their contributions in 2025, a year in which the Society marked 60 years of service in Ghana.
“Ebenezer; thus far the Lord has brought us,” he remarked.
The BSG expressed the hope that Bible Week 2026 would ignite renewed passion for Scripture and promote a culture of productivity, integrity and accountability across all sectors of Ghanaian life.
The Society has therefore called on churches and individuals to actively promote the use of mother-tongue Bibles in worship, study and personal devotion.
As the nation observes Bible Week, the BSG envisions a transformation in work culture, improved attitudes towards labour and enhanced productivity, anchored in biblical principles.
