Airport East Methodist Men’s Fellowship honours pioneers
The Airport East Circuit of the Association of Methodist Men’s Fellowships has climaxed its 10th anniversary celebrations with a thanksgiving and awards service in Accra.
The ceremony, held on Sunday at the Immanuel Methodist Chapel was attended by ministers, members of the fellowship, families and well-wishers to celebrate a decade of service, commitment and contribution to the growth of the Methodist Church.
In a joint sermon, the Superintendent Minister of the Circuit, Very Rev. Dr Solomon T. Nortey, and an auxiliary Minister at the Immanuel Society, Very Rev. Justice George Ampiah-Bonney Jnr, stressed the importance of discipline and obedience in the life of every Christian.
They said a good Christian was one who demonstrated discipline and obedience at all times at home, in the workplace, church and society at large.
“Without discipline and obedience, it will be difficult to distinguish the life and conduct of a Christian from that of a non-Christian,’’ they contended.
The two ministers praised the Men’s Fellowship of the Airport East Circuit for its significant contribution to the growth and development of the Church within the Circuit and beyond.
An Executive Member of the Northern Accra Diocese of the Methodist Men’s Fellowship, Mr Henry Brown, congratulated the Airport East Circuit on attaining the 10-year milestone.
He described the Circuit as a model within the Diocese, noting that it was currently “reigning as the Best Circuit in the Diocese.”
The Chairman of the Circuit, Kweku Sersah-Johnson, explained that the decision to honour the past Chairmen was informed by the belief that a society that failed to recognise its heroes risked losing an important source of inspiration for future generations.
He said the awards were intended not only to recognise the pioneers for their service but also to motivate current and future members to give their best to the Fellowship and the Church.
As part of the anniversary celebration, four past Chairmen of the Circuit Men’s Fellowship: Kofi Nti Ofori, Kwamina Amoasi-Andoh, Isaac Kojo Achiampong and Prof. Kwame Asamoah were honoured for their dedication, commitment and exemplary leadership.
A citation accompanying the awards recognised their contribution to the development of the Fellowship and their continued influence in guiding its members.
The event also saw induction into office of Mr Patrick Koranteng as Assistant Secretary of the Circuit.
He succeeds the late Eleazer Ade Ansah Tackie, who passed away earlier this year.
Meanwhile, the Susana Wesley Mission Auxiliary (SUWMA) of the Immanuel Methodist Society seized the occasion to also launch its 10th anniversary celebrations.
The Chairman of SUWMA, Ama Oppon, said the organisation had lined up a number of activities to mark the anniversary, which would climax on December 13, 2026.
