Armed robbers kill mobile money vendor at Okorase

A 36-year-old mobile money vendor and teacher of Besease Basic School, Solomon Arhin, has been shot dead on Saturday, at Okorase, in the Eastern Region by suspected armed robbers.

A resident of Okorase, Charles Darkwah, said he heard a gunshot from the direction of the road behind his house, and later he saw Arhin run into his house shouting for help.

Darkwah said he later found Arhin lying in a pool of blood in the middle of his house.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue of the St Joseph’s Hospital, Koforidua for autopsy.

The Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ebenezer Tetteh,  who confirmed the incident to the Ghanaian Times, said the police visited the scene and found the victim lying in a supine position in a pool of blood in black short and white shirt.

He said the robbers shot Arhin in chest, and the police found two black backpack containing Gh¢8,290.30, one HP laptop with charger, five mobile phones, Zenith bank cheque book, a pen drive, modem, earpiece and other bank documents lying beside the deceased.

DSP Tetteh said Arhin was pronounced dead at the hospital.
