Assemblies confirm DCEs for Dormaa West, Berekum West

Two District Chief Executives (DCEs) for Dormaa West and Berekum West in the Bono Region, nominated by President John Mahama, were confirmed by their respective assemblies on Friday.
Mr Collins Asumah was confirmed by all the 27 eligible voters, including nine government appointees of the Berekum West Assembly, to endorse him as the District Chief Executive for the area.
Mr Stephen Azorba Aminu was confirmed the DCE for Dormaa West District after he polled 14 out of 15 ballots, representing 83 per cent of votes by assembly members.
A Supervising High Court judge, Justice Gabriel Mate-Teye, swore the two DCEs and the government appointees into office.
The Bono Regional Minister, Joseph Addae-Akwaboa, cautioned local government staff, government appointees and civil servants against corrupt practices, which according to him could undermine development.
He said that anybody found culpable in corrupt deals such as procurement breaches would not only be dismissed, but also prosecuted.
Mr Asumah expressed his gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the opportunity to serve the people.
According to Mr Asumah, his election was a call to duty, and promised to serve the people with humility and bring development to Berekum West.
He gave the assurance that he would work with chiefs and other opinion leaders towards progress in the area.
Mr Aminu appealed to assembly members and civil servants to support the President’s vision of resetting Ghana and rebuilding the economy.
He said officials of the assembly could not afford to disappoint the government and the people hence the need to work hard to achieve prosperity.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Berekum West, Dickson Kyere Dua, asked the assembly members to work with the DCE devoid of partisan politics, which he noted was likely to draw back the clock of progress of the area if not stopped.
