‘Attacks on Justmoh workers disrupting road project’

JUSTMOH Construction Ltd has reported multiple assaults on its workers by motorists and community gangs along the Takoradi–Agona-Nkwanta highway project, causing fear, intimidation, and delays.

Speaking to journalists during a site inspection, Safety Manager, Mr Issac Kwakye Asare, recalled two major incidents on July 4, 2025, at Bokro, and January 30, 2026, at Beahu.

Ongoing works at the Ewusiejoe bridge

At Beahu, a Justmoh pick-up was travelling in the inner lane when a tricycle veered from the outer lane, causing a minor collision.

“Community members, armed with machetes, rushed to attack our workers. One worker was seriously injured and hospitalised before discharge,” Mr Asare revealed.

He added that, “We often face such attacks along the corridor. We open other lanes to traffic, but tricycle riders still enter working areas. Cooperation from motorists is very poor.”

At Bokro, one lane was opened to public traffic, but motorcyclists and tricycle riders ignored warnings and directional signs.

They attacked workers and reportedly called local gangs. Four workers were injured and treated at a nearby hospital.

Following the incidents, Justmoh engineers met with community members and local chiefs. Mr Asare said the attacks affected work progress, as workers operate under fear.

Complaints have been lodged with the Kwesimistsim and Agona Nkwanta police, awaiting resolution.

Separately, Justmoh acquired a site from Halenquin International at Ewusiejoe to source materials for filling excavated areas near the Ewusiejoe Bridge.

However, the Ewusiejoe Chief sent representatives to stop work.

“We work for the government and believe in mediation to ensure progress for everyone’s benefit,” Mr Asare noted.
