Bole MP donates hearse, motorcycles to Muslim Ulemmah Community
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bole Constituency in the Savannah Region, Mr Yussif Sulemana, on Monday presented a brand-new Toyota hearse and four motorcycles to the Muslim Ulemmah Community in Bole.
Valued at GH¢ 272,000, the items are designed to assist in the transportation of deceased members of the Muslim Ulemmah community to their final resting place in the cemetery.
Before this donation, Bole lacked a dedicated vehicle for the conveyance of bodies, posing challenges for Muslims in transporting their departed relatives to their final resting place.
At a brief ceremony held in Bole, Mr Sulemana stated that the gesture was in response to a request made during one of his visits to the central mosque in the constituency.
“Today, I am fulfilling the promise I made to my Muslim Ulemmah by providing the hearse and the motorbikes that I pledged,” he said.
He emphasised the importance of transporting deceased individuals with dignity and respect.
Mr Sulemana acknowledged the health risks linked to the transportation of deceased individuals in private vehicles and emphasized the necessity of a dedicated hearse to facilitate safe and dignified transport.
He said, “I was elected as MP to support the good people of my beloved constituency, and I am doing exactly that by fulfilling my promises.”
He said although the funds utilised for the donation could have been directed to other areas, he opted to invest in the hearse and motorbikes to meet the specific requirements of the Muslim communities within the constituency.
He reflected on the challenges encountered by Imams, community members, and families in the transportation of bodies and reaffirmed his dedication to alleviating these difficulties.
Mr Sulemana called upon the Imams and the Ulemmah to ensure the proper care of the hearse and motorbikes.
In response, the Bole Chief Imam, Alhaji Mohammed Iddrisu, expressed his appreciation for the MP’s assistance and promised to create a fund to guarantee the vehicle’s maintenance.
He also offered prayers for Mr Sulemana’s continued blessings, protection, and guidance in all his endeavours.
