BOST energies pays GH¢34.2m maiden dividend to govt

BOSTenergies has paid GH¢34.2 million in dividends to the Government, marking the first time in the company’s history that the State has received dividends from it.

The maiden dividend formed part of a strong financial performance in 2025, during which the company’s revenue rose to GH¢3.81 billion and total assets increased by 50 per cent to GH¢3.99 billion.

Shareholders’ equity also increased to GH¢1.47 billion, reflecting what the company described as a significant financial turnaround.

The performance was announced at the company’s 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Accra on Wednesday, attended by the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Jinapor; the Managing Director of BOSTenergies, Mr Afetsi Awoonor; board members and staff.

Mr Awoonor said the maiden dividend reflected the company’s improved financial position and demonstrated its commitment to prudent financial management, accountability and sustainable value creation.

“2025 was a defining year for BOSTenergies. We delivered strong financial growth, strengthened our balance sheet and achieved the significant milestone of declaring our first-ever dividend to the Government of Ghana,” he said.

According to him, the results were driven by strong commercial activities, disciplined financial management and a sustained focus on operational efficiency.

He said the financial gains had positioned BOSTenergies as a stronger and more resilient company, with a solid foundation to support continued investment, operational excellence and sustainable growth.

Mr Awoonor said the company would focus on strengthening its operations, improving efficiency, building resilience and creating lasting value for the Government and other stakeholders.

He said BOSTenergies would also leverage its strategic infrastructure, commercial capabilities and evolving energy portfolio to contribute to Ghana’s energy security.

“As we look ahead, our focus remains clear: strengthening our operations, driving efficiency, building resilience and creating lasting value,” he said.

Dr Jinapor commended the board, management and staff for what he described as a “masterclass performance” in financial growth, profitability, operational efficiency and portfolio expansion.

He noted that the company’s portfolio had grown by almost threefold and pledged the Ministry’s continued support to enable BOSTenergies to consolidate the gains.

The Minister urged the board and management to remain focused and build on the achievements to deliver even greater value to the State.

The Director-General of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), Prof. Michael Kpessa-Whyte, also welcomed the company’s financial turnaround and its maiden dividend payment.

He urged the board and management to remain on course and pursue further growth while ensuring that the company continued to deliver value to the Government.

The AGM marked a major milestone in BOSTenergies’ operations, with the company reaffirming its commitment to financial sustainability, operational efficiency, shareholder value and Ghana’s energy security.
