As part of the visit, they will feature in a series of competitive games with the national rugby league team, The Leopards, the President’s XIII, and the University of Ghana Rugby League Team.
They will also engage in developmental and community projects, contributing to the ongoing growth of rugby league in Ghana.
In a release, captain of CURLFC, Owen Hanford, said his outfit was thrilled at the prospect of visiting Ghana.
“We are not only eager to test our mettle against some of the most robust rugby league outfits on the continent, but also to explore the vibrant culture that the country is steeped in,” he stated.
According to him, the University of Cambridge was seeking to forge a lasting relationship with the Rugby League Federation of Ghana (RLFG) and would be honoured to host The Leopards for a return fixture in the coming years.
The Vice President of CURLFC, Mr. Tom Allen, stated that making the tour a regular feature would expose the team to the various ways of the sport.
The Technical Director of the RLFG, Mr. Marshall Nortey, expressed excitement at the impending visit, describing it as a significant step toward building international pathways and development opportunities for his players and coaches.
