CLOGSAG leadership dispute: Acting President cautions against disputed appointments
THE Acting President of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG), Mr Benjamin Otoo, has cautioned members and executives of the association against recognising or implementing purported new appointments currently being circulated.
According to him, the appointments were being disputed and their validity was currently before the High Court for determination.
In a statement issued by his office in Accra yesterday, Mr Otoo urged all Regional and District Executives, as well as members of the association, to disregard any notices, directives or administrative actions arising from the purported appointments until the court had pronounced on the matter.
He said the High Court had scheduled a date to hear and determine the matter, stressing that it was therefore important for all parties to exercise restraint and allow the judicial process to take its course.
“The purported appointments are disputed and their validity is before the High Court,” the statement said, adding that Regional and District Executives should not recognise or implement the appointments pending the court’s determination.
Mr Otoo further called on members to remain calm, law-abiding and committed to protecting the unity and institutional integrity of CLOGSAG.
He said his office remained committed to safeguarding the institutional integrity, property and collective interests of the association, and urged all stakeholders to refrain from actions that could further deepen the leadership dispute.
The Acting President also appealed to the media, members, Regional and Branch Executives and the general public to exercise restraint and respect the judicial process.
“Let the court determine the matter,” Mr Otoo stated.
