CNIR launches new initiative for political, socio-economic growth

The Centre for National Interest and Research (CNIR) has launched a new initiative in Accra, to promote social, economic and political growth.

Dubbed; ‘The Century Agenda Initiative,’ it is also aimed at harnessing the geographical advantage to drive an inclusive social, economic and political society.

It was on the theme: ‘From Vision to Reality: Transforming Ghana for All, One Nation, One Future.’

Speaking at the press launch on Tuesday, the Executive Director of CNIR, Mr Dzabaku Kudiabor Ocansey, stated that the move which would be officially launch on October 22, would foster entrepreneurship and job creation to achieve inclusive economic growth.

He added that the initiative would also focus on how to develop and improve the country’s natural resources without destroying the existing environment.

“For Global Leadership and Innovation, we will drive digital transformation and innovation guided by principles of inclusivity, collaboration, innovation, sustainability, accountability, and transparency.

“We will focus on key areas such as research, apprenticeship, national orientation, entrepreneurship, agriculture, technology, Tourism, Sports and creative industries,” Mr Ocansy emphasised.

Touching on the initiative’s political arm, he said, “we have nationalists in that political arm, what they do is that they take advantage of the opportunities around to create their own wealth to help others to survive.”

However, Mr Ocansey noted that a typical politician was someone who when voted for, would invest all the power in himself, want to destroy things he or she came to meet to enrich themselves.

“And this is what we want to avoid because if we are well-informed, educated, we will be able to distinguish between a nationalist, a leader, and a politician so we can choose whom we want to lead us,” he noted.

Mr Ocansey further mentioned that education would take place through stakeholder engagement, forums, community outreach, conferences, and conventions, to reach out to the youth, “so that we all know what we are supposed to do to help our country or our community”.
