Beleaguered Hearts of Oak have been handed another North African opposition as they take on Algeria’s JS Saoura in a two-legged CAF Confederation play-off assignment.
This was the upshot of yesterday’s cagey draw in Cairo.
Hearts plunged into the Confederation Cup after slouching to a disconcerting 6-2 aggregate defeat to Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club in the second round of the preliminary stage of the CAF Champions League.
Yet again, the Phobians will play first in front of their fans between November 26 and 28 at the Accra Sports Stadium before flying to the Stade 20 August 1955 in the Béchar Province for the reverse contest.
Winner of the two-legged affair enters into the Confederation Cup group stage – and Hearts are determined to bounce back and restore the smiles on the faces of their crestfallen contingent.
Communication Director of the club, Kwame Opare Addo, is confident Hearts will resurrect from the ‘debris’ as they chart a new course to glory.
“We have another opportunity to make ourselves very proud and that is the Confederation Cup,” he said in an interview with JoySports yesterday.
“We lost in the Champions League level, but the Confederations also presents another opportunity so we must let Hearts of Oak count, we must remain united and let the supporters continue to stand firm behind the team.”
