Cycling: Kudjo wins Granfondo Ghana Race
Ghanaian cyclist, Victor Kudjo emerged winner of the Granfondo Ghana Cycling Race, the first international cycling event held on Sunday.
The Gladiators Pro Cycling club rider beat over 100 cyclists to finish the 100km race in a time of 2:47:44secs to walk away with the ultimate prize of GH¢5000 and a gold medal.
He was followed by Abdul Rahman of Quick Step and Prince Kudufia of Team Epic who followed in second and third positions in a time of 2:47:46secs and 2:47:49secs, respectively.
Other prizes went to the first female rider, Amma Kensema Adade while Erica Moreau and Prince Mauson emerged the oldest and youngest cyclists, respectively.
The first 10 cyclists also received cash prizes.
The race started from Adenta and passed through Somanya in the Eastern region, Apirede hill to mamfe and descended through the scenic Aburi hill.
Speaking after the race, the winner Kudjo said he was pleased to win for the country despite the tough competition from other African countries like Nigeria and Togo.
On his part, Race Director, Kwabena Larbi said they were impressed with the level of competition on the day.
He expressed appreciation to the sponsors including Sykes and Partners Limited, Safety Insurance Brokers, DHL Ghana and Legon Botanical Garden for their support.
