Dr Bawumia, National Chief Imam inaugurate Masjid Al-Noor Mosque complex in Wayamba

Former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, on Friday inaugurated the Masjid Al-Noor Mosque complex in Wayamba, in the Sagnarigu Municipality of the Northern Region.

The 6,000 seater capacity complex has a school, library, dormitories, workers and guest residences, clinic with pharmacy and offices.

Others facilities in the mosque are, Sheikh Adam Issah Centre for Islamic Research (SAICIR), Masjid Al- Noor Zakat Fund, Education and Scholarship Fund

The Masjid Al-Noor architectural design and its construction was completed by Alhaji Engineer Kabiru Idris of Shaddis Limited, a Kumasi base contractor.

Inaugurating the mosque here, Dr Bawumia applauded the Dr Amin for providing such an ultra – modern structure for the good people of the northern region.

He said the mosque was more than a place of worship adding that it was a spiritual home where hearts find peace, knowledge perused and communities come together in unity for prayers.

Dr Bawumia added that Masjid Al-Noor would be guided by the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah to serve Allah and humanity through worship, education, service and development.

He advised the Muslims Ulemmah in the region and the country at large to continue to foster among themselves unity in the country

The former vice president said Islam was a peace religion hence the need for Muslims in the country to abide by the principles of the Islam to love one another as brothers

He stated that the construction of the mosque was a strong bonds of friendship and cooperation among the people of the northern region and beyond

Dr Bawumia therefore urged the leadership of the Muslim community to take good care of the mosque and build its profile as a tourist destination for travellers and devotees into the region

On his part, the founder of the Mosque, Dr Adam Mohammed Amin, stated that, Masjid Al-Noor was built to honour the legacy of his late father, Sheikh Adam Issah, who dedicated his life to the teachings of the Holy Quran and Islamic knowledge till he passed on about 43 years ago.

He said the construction of Masjid Al-Noor stands as a beacon of faith, learning and community service.

That, he stated represented a vision where worship was joined with knowledge where charity meets compassion and where generation of Muslims could grow spiritual and intellectually in the service of Allah

He said the Masjid Al-Noor would renew the spirit of faith, learning and community service, reflecting a vision that unites worship, knowledge and moral formation in the service of present and future generations

Dr Amin who is also the MP for Karaga added that Masjid Al-Noor was envisioned not only as a place of worship but also as a Centre for spiritual grawth, Quranic learning, family guidance and counseling, community outreach, research, intellectual development and Islamic social events.

He said the Mosque would house the offices of Noorul Hayat Foundation, an Islamic charity dedicated to support charitable causes.

Dr Amin, therefore appealed to religious and Islamic scholars in the region to be tolerant on each other to support development of Islamic preachings in the region

The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu commended Dr Amin for initiating and establishing the process for the construction of the complex mosque.

He called on other Ulemmah in the region and the country at large to emulate the good example of Dr Amin by also coming out to construct same edifice for the Islam communities in their various jurisdictions
