Driver granted GH₵100,000 bail for defiling girl, 9
A driver, accused of defiling a nine-year-old girl, has been granted GH₵100,000 bail with three sureties, two to be justified, by the Circuit Court, in Accra.
Kenneth Ofosu Mensah, 31, who was charged with defilement and indecent assault, has pleaded not guilty.
The court presided over by Mrs Christina Cann adjourned to July 26,2022, for case management conference.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Simon Terkpor said the complainant was a barber residing atAgbogboloshie, a suburb of Accra, while the victim is a primary two pupil.
The court heard that the victim resided with the complainant, her father atAgbogboloshie, and Mensah lived near the complainant, adding that accused had asked the girl to sweep his room.
Chief InspTerkporsaid accused sexually abused the victim and gave her money each time she went to sweep his (Mensah) room.
Prosecution said in March, this year, when the girl went into Mensah’sroom to sweep, he (Mensah) allegedly had sexual intercourse with the girl.
Chief InspTerkpor told the court that in June, this year, the victim shouted in her sleep shouted “stop, it is paining me.”
Prosecution said “Sometimes too, complained of pains in her private part when she takes her bath”.
Chief InspTerkporsaid when the complainant asked the victim if somebody had sex with her, she revealed that accused inserted his finger into her private part and had sex with her.
Prosecution said the complainant reported the case to the Domestic Violence and VictimsSupport Unit of the Ghana Police Service, in Accra.
Chief InspTerkporsaid complainant was given a medical form to take the victim to hospital for examination and treatment and Mensah was arrested. -GNA
