English Traced to Arabic

As part of our efforts to trace languages to a common source, we discuss the issue of tracing English to Arabic in this article.

The English belong to the European race of nations, hence are descended from Japheth, the third son of the Patriarch Noah. They also form a part of the Gog and Magog race, who were prophesied in the Bible to play key roles in the civilisation of the latter days. Currently, the English language is the most common official language spoken globally.

Since the time when the English language began to spread all over the globe, it has evolved into British English (the original tongue), American English (spoken in America) and Pidgin English (spoken in West Africa). British and American English are essentially different in accents. We begin the discussion as follows:

Citt in Arabic becomes Cat or Tom cat in English. Mazaca in Arabic means to tear apart. By intensifying the Z to make it Mazzaca, the degree of tearing apart becomes intensified. It acquires the meaning of tearing into pieces. In English it becomes Massacre, meaning to destroy or defeat utterly. Similarly, Kasara in Arabic means to break while Kassara, intensified by another S, means to break into pieces (smash). Thus by the intensification of single letters in Arabic words, Arabic can express meanings that other languages can only express using many words.

Ain in Arabic becomes Eye in English and Anii in Twi. The Arabic root word is Aana, meaning to hurt the eye.

Luggat in Arabic becomes language in English. The Arabic luggat derives from the root laaga, meaning to speak. Milt (singular) and Mullut (plural) in Arabic mean a man of Mixin origin that becomes Mullato in English, meaning half-cast. The root word in Arabic is Malata, meaning to paste with mud or mortar.

Caraama in Arabic has many meanings including generosity, honour and signs of God’s favour (mirades). A spiritual personality who works miracles becomes a magnetic personality like the true Prophets of God. From this word is derived the English word Charisma or Charismatic, meaning magnetic personality whose presence attracts people.

The Arabic Caraama is derived from the root Carrama, meaning to denote generously. Implying that when a man truly becomes Godly, God showers on him all kinds of material and spiritual gifts and benefits including miracles.

Burkaan in Arabic becomes Volcano in English, Cairaat is used as a measuring unit of weight in Arabic that becomes the English Carat used as a measuring unit for the purity of gold. Thus 24-Carat is the highest purity of gold. Abnoos in Arabic becomes the Ebony wood in English.

Buurac in Arabic becomes Borax in English. The Arabic Buurac derives from the root Baraca, meaning to flash, lighten.

Istaar (singular) and Asaatiir (plural) mean fiction, story, false tales become story or Sature in English. The root-word in Arabic is Sattara, meaning to compose lies, false tales etc. Wail in Arabic means disaster which becomes Woe in English. Thus the Arabic expression Wailaka, means Woe onto you in English.

Cub in Arabic means a large cup or jug. The root-word is Caaba, meaning to drink from a large cup or jug, which becomes drinking cup in English.

Sukar in Arabic becomes Sugar in English and Asikire in Twi. It appears as if each of the world’s multiplicity of languages uses the same Sukar or Sugar. The etymology of Sukar is Sakkara, meaning to become intoxicated. Thus associating intoxication with Sugar. This is borne out by modern science and experience that sugar and sugary liquids soon ferments to alcohol.

In Arabic, the two most common fruits from which alcohol is fermented are dates and grapes (Inab). That Sukar (sugar) is truly Arabic in origin comes from the Quranic verse: “Oh ye who believe go not nigh onto prayers (salat) when you are drunk” (Quran 4: 44) “When you are drunk” is “Wa Antum Sukaara”. The Word Sukaara (drunk) is from the root Sakkara, meaning to be intoxicated, from which is derived the essence of intoxication, namely Sukar (sugar).

Miil in Arabic is a measuring unit for distance that becomes Mile in English. In Arabic it derives from the root Maala, meaning to bend a step towards a place.

In Arabic, Firdaus is the top most heaven that becomes Paradise in English. Caafuur in Arabic becomes Camphor in English. Haada in Arabic means to oppose or act with hostility which becomes Hard in English.

Cand in Arabic means thickened juice of sugar cane which becomes Candy in English. Similarly, Candill in Arabic becomes candlestick in English. Cabaab in Arabic means meat cut into pieces and roasted or boiled. It becomes Cebab in English.

Kaala means to measure in Arabic from which are derived Kail or Kaila which are measuring units. This becomes kilo in English.

Wast in Arabic means the middle part of anything which becomes Waist in English in reference to the middle part of the human body. It derives from Wasata in Arabic, meaning to sit in the middle.

Guuta in Arabic means a depressed ground or hollow that becomes gutter in English, meaning a drain.

Al-Furaat in Arabic means the river Euphrates (In Iraq). The root-word is Farata meaning to become sweet. By prefixing the definite article to Furaat to become Al-Furaat it acquires the meaning of a water or river that is most distinguished in sweetness, which is the river Euphrates according to Arabs.

As pointed out in previous articles the definite article Al (The) prefixed to nouns confers brevity and eloquence on Arabic. For example Batuul in Arabic means a virgin. But when you say Al-Batuul, you mean a lady who is most distinguished in virginity which is Mary of the Bible.

Casr in Arabic becomes Castle in English. Casr derives from Casara, meaning to lack power or ability to do something. Since castles are built to make them inaccessible to enemy attacks, it implies that the enemy who wants to seize a castle become impotent and falls short of attaining his object of conquering the castle.

Suffice for the above few English words traced to Arabic which is only the tip of the iceberg. Thus buttressing the fact that the world’s multiplicity of languages must have a common origin.

Last but not the least, Gog and Magog become Yaajuj and Maajuj. The two words derive from the Arabic Ajij meaning fire. Thus inherent in the meanings of Gog and Magog is a prophecy of a people who shall make most extensive use of fire as compared to other civilization and nations. This meaning of the word and its accompanying prophecy have been fulfilled in the two power blocks of the day, namely America and her allies and Russia, on the other hand, and her allies. Look at the amount of energy and fire released when an atomic bomb is exploded!

Conclusion
English words are traceable to Arabic.
