Fire Service launches Easter safety campaign
The public must adhere to fire safety protocols, prevention practice and regulations, during this Easter festivities, Assistant Chief Fire Officer Grade One, (ACFOI) Roberta Ghanson, the Accra Regional Fire Commander, has reiterated.
She said such act would help minimise undesired fires to destroy lives and properties in the country.
The Commander made the call when she launched the annual Easter Fire Safety campaign to create awareness on fire safety issues in Accra yesterday.
The programme was attended by personnel from the Municipal, Metropolitan, and District of the Ghana National Fire Service from the regional command.
ACFO Ghanson called on stakeholders to partner the Fire Service to create awareness on fire safety issues.
“Fire Safety is a shared responsibility, we believe that a collaborative effort today and years to come will go a long way to help reduce the incidence of fire outbreaks and accidents,” she added.
The commander urged the members of the public to have escape routes at their facilities in case of emergencies.
“One other area that is also of a great concern to the Service is the education on maintaining good escape plans and escape routes within homes and offices to ensure safe and quick escape for users and emergency response team.”
She assured of the Fire Service’s determination in ensuring that undesired fires were reduced in the country.
ACFOI Ghanson commended the personnel of the Regional Command for their contribution over the years in protecting life and properties through intense fire safety education, fire risk assessment, fire certification and training workplaces and other public areas.
The Accra Regional Safety Officer, Divisional Officer Grade One (DOI) Evans Osei Owusu, said as part of the programme lined up, the Command would embarked on educational campaigns at church conventions, organised house visitation, slum areas and route march on principal streets of Accra, and urged the personnel to get involved in all the activities
