FNB champions health, unity, national pride with 2025 Accra marathon

The much-anticipated First National Bank (FNB) Accra Marathon is set to make its inspiring return on November 8, continuing its proud tradition as Ghana’s premier marathon event.

Now in its third year, the event is a powerful celebration of health, community, and national spirit, taking place in the heart of Accra.

An initiative currently championed by the bank, in partnership with the Dansoman Keep Fit Club, the marathon has been in existence for 33 years and has grown into a nationwide movement, inspiring both amateur and professional athletes to push their limits in a vibrant, inclusive atmosphere.

The Chief Executive Officer at First National Bank, Warren Adams, said that the bank’s goal is to maintain a sustainable partnership with the Dansoman Keep Fit Club to create a world-class experience that inspires athletes and celebrates the spirit of community.

Mr Adams emphasised the bank’s unwavering commitment to shared prosperity, saying, “The First National Bank Accra Marathon has become an integral part of the community, and we are dedicated to giving it the support and attention it needs to be sustained”.

Last year’s event was a standout success, with over 4,000 runners and 1,000 volunteers coming together in a true showcase of unity and determination.

“Participants have praised the return of Ghana’s first true marathon, the enhanced spectator experience, and the electrifying atmosphere we worked so hard for,” said Benjamin Ahulu, Chairman of the Dansoman Keep Fit Club.

“This year, we’re aiming even higher, and making the race achievable for more people,” he added.

The 2025 edition of the marathon will include a half-marathon (21.1km) for ages 16-25 years, 10km race for under 16 years and 10km corporate race for organised groups and organisations

Explaining the race structure for this year’s event, Mr Ahulu highlighted that this year’s professional race is halved to elevate young athletes from last year’s 15km race to this year’s 21.1km, reinforcing our long-standing commitment to youth development and athletic progression.

“We want to ensure a more focused and successful event this year, while setting a stronger foundation for 2026 with a full marathon. Let’s run together, rise together”.

Registration is now open at all First National Bank branches and will close on November 5. Interested participants can also sign up conveniently on their cell phones by dialling *713*33*40#.
