The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on Monday held a pull-out ceremony for the outgoing Forces Sergeant Major, Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) Daniel Addo, after 30 years of dedicated service.
CWO Addo was presented with a 4×4 Toyota double cabin pick-up, a citation, a 72-inch colour television set, a clock, and other items in recognition of his distinguished career.
He was enlisted into the GAF on January 5, 1996, after undergoing six months of rigorous basic training at the Army Recruit Training School at Shai Hills in the Greater Accra Region. He was subsequently posted to the 4 Infantry Battalion in Kumasi.
Prior to his appointment as Forces Sergeant Major five years ago, he served with distinction in several capacities, including Machine Gun Warrant Officer at the Army Combat Training School, Regimental Sergeant Major for MONUSCO GHANBATT 12, Command Sergeant Major at Headquarters Central Command in Kumasi, and Sergeant Major of the Ghana Army.
CWO Addo was awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal after 15 years of unblemished service. He also participated in a number of peacekeeping operations, including ECOMOG GHANBATT 16 in Sierra Leone and UNIFIL GHANBATT 57, 59 and 73 in Southern Lebanon.
He holds a Royal Society of Arts Stage III certificate in Accounting, a Higher National Diploma, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, as well as certificates in Industrial Security Management, Forensics and Investigation, and Peace, Security and Intelligence.
In an emotional farewell address, CWO Addo expressed gratitude to the Military High Command, officers and men, and his family for their support.
The Deputy Director General, Human Resource, Colonel Danso Ankra, commended him for his exemplary leadership and professionalism.
The ceremony was preceded by the official handover to the incoming Forces Sergeant Major, Master Warrant Officer Alhassan Zakaria.
