The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has cautioned prospective applicants in its 2026 enlistment exercise against fraudsters posing as military agents and demanding money to secure recruitment.
The GAF said it had not authorised any individual or group to recruit on its behalf and would not engage middlemen or charge applicants any fees beyond the official application cost.
The warning was contained in a press release issued and signed by the Acting Director General of Public Relations, Naval Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, and copied to The Ghanaian Times yesterday.
According to the statement, the enlistment exercise for commissioned officers had officially commenced, with the recruitment advertisement published in The Ghanaian Times on August 31, 2026, and the Daily Graphic on September 1, 2026.
It said application vouchers would be available for purchase at designated Ghana Post offices nationwide from Thursday, September 3, 2026, at a cost of GH₵200.
The official online application portal would be activated on Friday, September 4, 2026, to enable interested applicants to complete the application process.
The GAF said completed application forms must be submitted by Wednesday, September 23, 2026, and advised prospective applicants to ensure that they met all the stated requirements before applying.
The statement urged the public to obtain information on the enlistment exercise only through the official GAF social media platforms or the designated telephone and WhatsApp numbers provided by the GAF.
It also encouraged members of the public to use the same channels to report suspected fraudulent recruitment activities.
The GAF reiterated that it had not authorised any person or group to recruit on its behalf and urged applicants to disregard anyone claiming to have the power to facilitate recruitment for a fee.
It warned that persons who dealt with such individuals did so at their own risk and urged the public to remain vigilant throughout the enlistment exercise.
The GAF further advised prospective applicants to follow only the official recruitment procedures and avoid sharing personal information or making payments to unauthorised persons.
