Generous Donation Marks Start of O’Reilly SHS’s Centenary Celebrations

As O’Reilly Senior High School approaches its centenary celebration, a significant donation has been made by a member of the anniversary celebrations committee, Mr Samuel Quansah Quarcoo.

Valued at $45,000, the donation includes various school essentials aimed at enhancing the educational experience of the students.

The items donated included school bags, numerous laptop computers, 10 boxes of A4 sheets, exercise books, 1,200 notebooks, pens, school bags, sanitary items, 200 monodesks, boxes of markers, and a cart to carry food around the dining hall.

In an interview with the Ghanaian Times, Mr Quarcoo expressed his ongoing commitment to supporting the school, highlighting his previous contributions, which included donations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Together with support from some benevolent individuals in the USA, we have been donating to the school occasionally.”

“Last year, we renovated the dilapidated school clinic, built a new classroom block with sanitary facilities, and donated 22 solar light panels and laptop computers,” he said.

Mr Quarcoo, an alumnus who graduated 46 years ago, emphasised the importance of giving back to the school to inspire current students to do the same in the future.

The vice president of the O’Reilly Old Students Association (OROSA), Leticia Adega, also expressed her gratitude to Mr  Quarcoo for his unwavering support.

“Next year, in August 2025, the school will be 100 years old. We are preparing to celebrate it well, and next month, in September, we will launch the centenary,” she announced.

She revealed that the OROSA centenary project aims to build a multipurpose hall for the school, and an artistic impression of the hall will be displayed during the launch.

She also called on other alumni and well-wishers to support the school and contribute to its development, ensuring that O’Reilly Senior High School continues to provide quality education for future generations.

Headmistress of the school Nadia Annan expressed gratitude  to the old students for their support and called on individuals and institutions who mean well to emulate the generous act.

“We are very grateful for everything you have been doing for us. We pray that you always come back with more.  I also urge others to come and support us,” she added.
