GITFiC appoints Konan Clemence Francophone Region Bureau Chief

The  Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference (GITFiC), quasi-public institution, has appointed Mrs Konan Clemence as a Bureau Chief for the Francophone Region to implement the GITFiC Agenda 2031.

The GITFiC 2031 Agenda is to support the least developed countries in the global south in mitigating excessive debt burdens, fostering conditions for sustainable growth and shared prosperity.

Mrs Konan Clemence, an Ivorian magistrate and an accomplished professional mediator, whose appointment took effect from yesterday, April 22, 2025, will serve as the Francophone Regional Bureau Chief at the of GITFiC’s Bureau Secretariat in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire and work to effect the GITFiC Agenda 2031.

Speaking to the Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday about the new appointment, the Chief Executive GITFiC, Selasi Koffi Ackom, said Ms Clemence would perform her duties with a team of skilled professionals at the GITFiC’s Francophone Bureau Secretariat in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.

He noted that the decision to appoint the Bureau Chief for the Francophone Region was in line with the decision to expand to other African countries, particularly the Francophone countries and to implement the GITFiC 2031 Agenda.

“As GITFiC expands its influence across Africa and advances its Agenda 2031, particularly within Francophone member states, the role of the Francophone Bureau Chief becomes increasingly vital,” Mr Ackom stated.

He added that the GITFiC 2031 Agenda was to support the least developed countries in the global south in mitigating excessive debt burdens, fostering conditions for sustainable growth and shared prosperity.

The GITFiC Chief Executive also indicated that the new position was essential to bridge the language, cultural, and policy gaps, thereby ensuring the comprehensive realisation of GITFiC’s vision for Agenda 2013 across all linguistic regions of the continent and beyond.

Furthermore, Mr Ackom noted that Mrs Clemence would assume the role for a period of two years, with the possibility of renewal contingent on a positive performance review.

The Chief Executive of GITFiC said Mrs Clemence currently served as a member of the AfCFTA Appellate Body, comes with a worth of experience to steer the affairs of GITFiC in the Francophone Regions.

Again, he underlined that Mrs Clemence had previously held the position of the immediate past Director of International and Regional Cooperation at the Ministry of Trade and Industry for Cote d’Ivoire.

“In this capacity, she functioned as Côte d’Ivoire’s Chief Trade Negotiator and played an integral role in all AfCFTA negotiations for the country,” Mr Ackom, stated.

GITFiC is a quasi-public institution working with the private sector and governments in the sub-region and the continent at large to drive the AfCFTA trade agreement, the broader development agenda of the African Union and global trade issues.
