Govt launches Feed Ghana Programme in Techiman Saturday
The highly anticipated launch of the Feed Ghana Programme (FGP), a flagship initiative by the government, has been rescheduled to Saturday, April 12.
The event will take place at the Methodist School Park in Techiman, Bono East Region.
Initially set for April 11, the launch was postponed due to conflicting government activities requiring President John Dramani Mahama’s attention.
This was announced in a press statement issued by the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and copied the Ghanaian Times yesterday
The statement noted that FGP was aimed at transforming the country’s agricultural landscape, enhance food security, and boost agricultural productivity.
“By supporting farmers and improving food systems, the programme is expected to have a substantial impact on the nation’s development,” it added.
In a related development, the statement revealed that the University of Ghana has partnered with the Feed Ghana Programme under its institutional commercial farming initiatives.
This collaboration, it said, would leverage academic expertise and resources to promote sustainable agricultural practices and increase food production nationwide.
The Feed Ghana Programme is expected to play a significant role in transforming the agricultural landscape of Ghana, providing support to farmers, and enhancing the country’s food systems.
