 GPL matches postponed

 The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has postponed the match day 20 fixtures of the Ghana Premier League (GPL), following the violent incidents and fatality that occurred at the match played between Nsoatre­man FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko over the weekend.

The move, was aimed at creating space for the GFA to engage with relevant stakeholders and discuss the ramifications of the violence.

The postponement will allow the GFA to as­sess the situation, consult with stakeholders, and develop strategies to prevent such incidents in the future, a statement from the FA stated.

The GFA has been working to improve the overall football experience in Ghana and is keen to ensure that this incident is dealt with swiftly and decisively to send the signal that such acts have no place in Ghana Football,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko has pledged to fully cooperate with the Ghana Football Associ­ation in investigations to bring the perpetrators to book.

A statement from the Porcupine Warriors un­derlined that they expects a swift and firm action to be taken against those responsible.

According to the statement, “football must be played in a secured and fair environment, and these acts of violence must not be tolerated.”

“We call on all stakeholders to take decisive steps to ensure the safety of all teams, officials, and supporters, as we remain resolute in our pur­suit of professionalism and fair play,” it added.
