 Greatman Promotions signs 2 boxers

A boxing promotion syndicate,Greatman Promotions, has signed two promising boxers from the Sea View Boxing Gym in Accra.

The two pugilists are super lightweight, Gideon Nii Noi Nortey, and 15-year-old amateur prodigy, Benedict Tetteh.

At the signing ceremony last Friday, the two boxers in the company of their coach and co-founder of Sea View Boxing Gym, Gabriel Allotey, aka Coach Zion, signed an initial 10-year contract with the syndicate with an option of renewal to be discussed six months to the end of the initial term.

Under the deal, Greatman Promotions shall, among other things, employ reasonable skill and care in discharging its obligations, supervise and preserve the health and wellbeing of the boxers, ensure they receive the necessary training and preparation required for all matches, negotiate the earnings of boxers, and provide a transparent account of all such earnings on a mutually agreed basis.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Abraham OforiPortuphy said he was aware of the difficulties box

ers faced in their careers without such support.

This, he stated, motivated him to come on board to invest in the two exceptional young boxers and push them to the global stage.

On the choice of the two boxers, he revealed that they were part of a short list of boxers his outfit scouted and are ready to groom for the international stage.

“From this stage, they have to be serious with the trade. They would have vigorous local preparations, followed by a training tour in South Africa in December, and possibly prepare for a few challenges in the United States,” he said.

Responding, the two boxers thanked the promotional outfit for showing interest in them and promised to work hard to bring honour to both of them and the syndicate.

Coach Allotey, thanked Greatman Promotions for coming to the aid of the two boxers, noting that the opportunity could not have come at a more opportune time as it affords them the convenience to get better equipment and have an even better training regime to maintain their unbeaten status.
