Health ministry suspends principal of Nkanchina Nursing College over alleged unauthorised admissions

The Ministry of Health has suspended the Principal of the College of Nursing, Nkanchina, Mr. Fredrick Anaba, over alleged over-admission of students and the introduction of unapproved academic programmes.

The ministry announced the decision in a press release issued on March 12, 2026.

According to the ministry, the suspension takes immediate effect and will remain in place while a comprehensive administrative investigation is conducted into the matter.

It explained that the action follows a query issued to the principal on February 19, 2026, regarding the 2025/2026 admission process at the college.

After reviewing Mr. Anaba’s response, the ministry said it decided that a full investigation was necessary to establish the facts surrounding the alleged over-admission and the introduction of programmes that were not approved.

The ministry has therefore directed him to hand over the administration and management of the institution to the Acting Vice Principal to ensure the smooth running of the college.

The Ministry of Health (Ghana) said it remains committed to enforcing strict compliance with admission quotas and approved academic programmes across all health training institutions in the country.

The ministry indicated that further updates will be provided after the investigation is completed.
