Hearts host Kotoko in Kumasi, Sun
The Baba Yara Sports Stadium would be full of fireworks on Sunday when the two traditional giants,Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, lock horns in a crunch Ghana Premier League (GPL) week 14 clash.
Until a recent three-game winning streak by Kotoko, who happened to be the away side in the encounter happening on their home turf, both sides can be said to be going through a rough patch.
The Phobians have lacked consistency from the period under the sacked Martin Koopman but that trend has not changed under the caretaker coach, Abdul Rahim Bashiru Tijani.
Their recent defeat to Aduana Stars broke the fans hearts, especially when they expected a morale booster ahead of the weekend’s tie.
Kotoko have fired the first salvo ahead of the clash, threatening to beat the Phobians but Hearts remain extremely confident, believing in their ability to produce good results from matches in Kumasi.
At the Dr Kwame Kyei Park, Nations FC will host Aduana FC in a game expected to be full of thrills while Samartex look set to deepen the woes of Heart of Lions at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex.
The Nana Koramansah Park will also host the Nsoatreman FC clash against Karela United on Sunday with Great Olympics travelling all the way to Berekum Chelsea in a game the visitors would want to return home with at least a point to restore the fans confidence in the team.
At the Elwak Sports Stadium, Legon Cities, fresh from their Monday 2-0 victory over Great Olympics, will aim to start a winning streak when they clash with Real Tamale United.
In other matches, Bechem United are favourites against Accra Lions at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park as matches between Medeama SC and Bofoakwa Tano and Dreams FC versus Goldstars are postponed due to the home teams’ participation in Africa club competitions.
