Hearts overpower Vision FC
Substitute Mawuli Wayo scored the only goal of the match as Accra Hearts of Oak recorded a hard fought 1-0 victory over debutants, Vision FC, in their Ghana Premier League (GPL) match day 10 encounter played at the University of Ghana Stadium on Friday.
Wayo’s 48th minute goal from close range helped the Phobians grab back-to-back victories in the Premier League following their away win at Tarkwa on match day nine.
The Phobians came into the game looking to build on the momentum from the previous win to cement a place in the top five on the league table after 10 matches.
The thrilling contest burst into life right from the blast of referee Reginald Collins Amoah’s whistle as the Phobians attacked the visitors in search of an opener.
But after an initial struggle to gain control over the game, it was Hearts’ Samuel Amofa, Hamza Issah, and Kwabena Boateng and Vision FC’s Issah Akuka who wasted begging chances that fell to their respective sides.
Hearts maintained their composure in the second half and created chances, one of which saw Emmanuel Amankwah flight a cross from the right into the box which Michael Awuah Mensah and followed with another header from Wayo to direct it past goalkeeper Michael Abraham for the opener.
Hearts were presented with a glorious chance to increase the tally on 61 minutes, but Wayo’s pass to Issah in the box was missed while Saani Mohammed also blew a chance to get on the score sheet, shooting over the bar from close range.
The win was the fourth by the Phobians in 10 games while condemning Vision FC to their third defeat of the season.
Coach of Vision FC, Nana Kweku Agyemang, believes his young side, mostly dominated by Senior High School (SHS) graduates, and did a great job by holding their own against the Phobians.
Meanwhile, Vision FC will look to regroup and plot ahead of their next game against Dreams FC at the Nii Adjei Kraku Sports Complex.
Hearts coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, stated after the game that he would look to build on the winning mentality as they strive to move further up the league log with the coming game.
