Hearts to lock horns with Medeama in Accra
Fifth placed Accra Hearts of Oak and high-flying Medeama SC are set to thrill fans tomorrow when they clash at the Accra Sports Stadium in a top match day 31 clash of the betPawa Premier League.
Five points separate the Phobians from the second placed Medeama side that are bent on securing a top four position at the end of the season.
With four matches to end the season, the Phobians can be said to be in a hurry to find themselves at the top four zone of the table but would have to be on a winning streak, starting with tomorrow’s game against Medeama.
That will not come easy at all considering Medeama’s recent form that has seen them win their last three matches out of five.
And as a team that is also focused on maintaining their position on the league table and hoping to dislodge leaders Aduana Stars, Medeama would surely put up an impressive show to at least snatch a point from this game.
Luckily for them, the Accra happens to be one of their fertile grounds, having chalked some positive results there. They would be very comfortable.
However, Coach David Ocloo seems to have gotten his stamp on the team, putting up impressive displays in recent times.
Against King Faisal a fortnight ago, they overcame a very stubborn side and pull off a late victory.
That feat was orchestrated by the experienced Gladson Awako who came on for the last 10 minutes and opened the Faisal defence with a delicate pass for his side to score.
Two weeks after, Awako is expected to be physically fit to start tomorrow’s game and that would be a big boost for the Phobians.
The rest of the matches would shift attention to the relegation dogfight involving over six clubs with the Karela FC match against Accra Great Olympics top on the bill.
Olympics have been impressive at home since they moved to Sogakope but their away games have still not produced the results they need.
That against Karela’s own struggle to stay afloat and a more invigorated performances in their last set of matches make the tie a bit shaky for the visitors but their wondrous nature could ensure a split of the points.
Dreams FC and Berekum Chelsea will also lock horns at the Theatre of Dreams in a game the host must win to move out of the relegation zone just like Kumasi King Faisal who need an important win against Samartex when they clash at the Abrankese Park.
The Bibiani DUN’S Park will host the game between Goldstars and Tamale City in another battle of survival.
Today at the Accra Sports Stadium, Aduana Stars face a stern test when they play Accra Lions.
The visitors lead the pack with 52 points, followed closely by Medeama on 50 points.
Interestingly, the top two sides find themselves at the same venue on the same match day with Aduana’s position threatened because a slip will no wonder spur Medeama on the day after.
Accra Lions started the season brightly but have gradually plummeted the ladder but would have to use this game to revive their campaign.
At the Nana Konamansah Park, Bechem United could hurt Legon Cities when they clash in a tricky encounter.
On Monday, relegated Oda Kotoku Royals will host Asante Kotoko
