
The Minister of Information, Mr Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, yesterday presented bars of chocolate to staff of the New Times Corporation, publishers of Ghanaian Times and The Spectator in commemoration of the Chocolate Day celebration.
Chocolate Day is celebrated in Ghana on February 14, annually to promote the consumption of chocolate and other cocoa products among the populace.
Making the presentation, Mr Oppong-Nkrumah commended the staff of the corporation for their continuous dedication to duty.
“I know it’s a tough time, even for your industry and organisation it’s a very tough time. We all know the challenges we are going through as a nation and even in this tough time you are doing your best but it’s difficult. I just want you to know that your hard work is being noticed. We are hoping that the general recovery of the economic situation would be successful and you also benefit from it,’’ he added.
He expressed hope that the board and management would work together to drive and find how to inject more money into the corporation to turn it around to be successful.
The Editor of the Ghanaian Times Newspaper, Mr David Agbenu, on behalf of the staff thanked the minister and his entourage for the kind gesture.
He lauded the continuous collaboration between the ministry and the corporation over the years.
The Minister was accompanied by Mr Mawuli Segbefia, Director of Policy Planning, Budget and Monetary Evaluation and Kweku Obeng, Public Relations Manager.
Also present were the Managing Director, Mr Martin Adu Owusu; the Human Resource Manager, Mr Felix Acheampong and Acting Editor of the Spectator, Mrs Georgina Naa- Maku Quaittoo.
