Justmoh Construction appeals for expedited payments

Justmoh Construction Limited has appealed to the government to expedite payments for the execution of the 23-kilometre PTC-Agona Nkwanta road project in the Western Region.

The Chief Executive Officer of Justmoth, Dr Justice Amoh, who made the appeal said the delay in the payment of the Interim Payment Certificate (IPCs) was one major challenge facing contractors on sites, and believed that, this would be urgently addressed.

Dr Amoh made the complaint on Friday, when the Minister of Roads and Highways, Mr Governs Agbodza, inspected works on the PTC -Agona Nkwanta highway project.

He said: “The major item bordering us is the financial issues. Since the inception of the project, government has not paid us and we are still working and we will continue to work. But, you know, everything has a limit. Now, we have exhausted all our resources and our bankers are reluctant to release funds.”

Dr Amoh believed the assurance that by this week there would be “a positive news to encourage us in what we are doing to ensure the project is successful and completed on time and even ahead on schedule.”

He welcomed the minister’s visit as an encouragement and for Justmoh Construction to work harder, reporting that progress showed that work was 51 per cent beyond the 47 per cent schedule.

The Justmoh Constuction CEO told journalists that they would work hard on the concrete and pavement works, and also address traffic congestions, and urged road users to also exercise patience.

The Resident Engineer, Comptran Engineering, Kofi Adjei Frimpong, also spoke about the challenges of paying compensation along the project site.

Responding, Mr Abgodza admitted that government owed contractors and despite the setbacks, Justmoh, one of the biggest sites in Ghana, would continue to work according to schedule to provide quality services to improve the lives and conditions of people in Takoradi.

The government, he assured, was working with the Ministry of Finance to settle the debts.
