Karpowership Ghana has handed over a fully renovated boys’ dormitory at the Osu Children’s Home in Accra, highlighting its commitment to the welfare of children under state care. The renovation included new tiling, carpentry and masonry works, plumbing repairs, painting, and the installation of new beds, mattresses, doors, windows, and ceiling fans.
During the ceremony, Karpowership also donated food items and confectioneries to support the home’s daily needs. Ms Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, Member of Parliament for La Dade-Kotopon and Deputy Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, praised the initiative as a “remarkable show of corporate responsibility and compassion.” She noted that the dormitory would provide the boys with a conducive place to sleep, rejuvenate, and improve their well-being, encouraging other companies to support vulnerable children.
Ms Agnes Abolimpoh, Deputy Director for Children’s Welfare, representing the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, commended Karpowership, stating that the project enhances the boys’ dignity and overall welfare. The Home’s manager, Mr Reindorf Dartey, added that the dormitory had not undergone major renovations since its construction, calling the transformation a “blessing.”
Karpowership Managing Director, Mr Oscar Amonoo-Neizer, explained that the renovation reflects the company’s belief in community partnership and its broader contributions to education, youth development, and community infrastructure. The event concluded with a surprise visit from Santa Claus, spreading festive cheer among the children.
