KBGL launches initiative to enhance technical skills of poultry farmers

Kuipers Breeders Ghana Limited (KBGL), a leading poultry hatchery and breeding company, has launched a nationwide seminar series to enhance the technical skills of local poultry farmers.

The program equips both new and experienced farmers with practical knowledge and tools to improve flock management, productivity, and profitability.

The most recent seminars, held in Accra and Tamale under the theme “Master the Rearing, Own the Market,” attracted farmers from across Ghana.

Mr. Moses Aidoo, General Manager, emphasised correct rearing practices and reaffirmed KBGL’s commitment to long-term farmer support and sector growth.

Managing Director, Mr. Jurjen Kuipers, described the initiative as part of the company’s strategy to strengthen Ghana’s poultry industry through knowledge transfer, access to quality inputs, and technical assistance. He highlighted poultry farming’s role in rural empowerment, youth employment, and food security.

Hatchery Manager, Mr. Munyaradzi Chisvo, stressed starting chicks correctly from day one, linking early-stage care to lifetime productivity.

The seminar included hands-on training. Veterinary expert, Dr. Harrison Chitsungo, and the Kuipers After-Sales Team demonstrated how to measure chick temperatures using Kuipers-branded thermometers. Each participant received a thermometer for practical learning.

Founded in 2021, KBGL operates a modern hatchery in Amuyaokope, Sege, Greater Accra Region, producing 20–30 million day-old chicks annually. The facility employs advanced technology and strict biosecurity to breed disease-resistant, high-performing chicks suited to local conditions.

KBGL’s expansion into Ghana continues a poultry heritage dating back to 1939 in the Netherlands. Through local production, job creation, capacity building, and technical support, Kuipers Breeders Ghana continues to strengthen the poultry sector, contributing to agricultural development, economic resilience, and sustainable livelihoods across the country.
