Kempinski launches 10th anniversary …highlighting impact on tourism, hospitality

The Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra launches its 10-year anniversary celebrations highlighting its impact on Ghana’s tourism and hospitality industry.
The event, attended by key dignitaries, industry stakeholders, and special guests, was an opportunity to reflect on the hotel’s achievements and its role in shaping the luxury hospitality sector in Ghana.
The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Ms Abla Dzifa Gomashie, congratulated the hotel’s management and staff for their dedication and commitment to excellence.
She acknowledged the hotel’s contribution to Ghana’s economy and cultural development, emphasising its role in positioning the country as a leading tourism and investment destination.
She praised the hotel’s efforts in delivering world-class experiences that showcase Ghana’s beauty, warmth, and renowned hospitality.
The minister also recognised Kempinski’s alignment with the national vision of the Black Star Experience, which aims to promote Ghana as the gateway to Africa’s rich heritage and culture.
Ms Gomashie also noted that such partnership contributed significantly to the tourism sector’s growth, citing a 25 per cent increase in international tourist arrivals in 2023, reaching approximately 1.15 million visitors and surpassing pre-pandemic levels.
She expressed confidence that with Kempinski’s continued support, the sector could achieve even greater milestones.
The General Manager of Kempinski Gold Coast City Hotel, Mr Hanno Barkhoff, reflected on the hotel’s decade-long journey, stating that it had not only met but exceeded its vision of redefining luxury hospitality in Accra.
He emphasised that the hotel had become an integral part of the city, offering unmatched elegance and memorable experiences.
“Over the years, Kempinski has hosted numerous dignitaries, high-profile guests, and travellers from around the world, earning prestigious awards that reflect its dedication to excellence,” he indicated.
Furthermore, Mr Barkhoff acknowledged that the journey had not been without challenges, but the hotel continued to adapt, innovate, and set new standards for luxury hospitality in Ghana.
He assured that Kempinski remains committed to investing in its team, fostering innovation, and maintaining its reputation as a leading hospitality brand.
“Beyond luxury accommodation, Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra has actively contributed to community development through its corporate social responsibility initiative,” he noted.
According to him, the programme had supported various philanthropic causes, positively impacting many lives, “Additionally, the hotel has been instrumental in creating employment opportunities and supporting local businesses.”
The President of the Ghana Journalists Association, Mr Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, commended Kempinski for its continued partnership with the association over the years.
He acknowledged the hotel’s role in supporting media professionals and fostering a strong relationship with the press.
As part of the 10-year celebrations, he said the hotel had planned several activities and initiatives over the coming months.
According to him, the activities would focus on key areas that connect the hotel to its people, guests, and the wider community, adding that, “The celebrations will culminate in a grand gala in November to honour the hotel’s dedicated team and loyal clients.”
