Kotoko condemns unsporting behavior of fans
Asante Kotoko Managing Director, George Amoako has condemned the unsporting acts of the club’s supporters during the game against Al Hilal at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The Kotoko supporters threw missiles onto the pitch after the Ethiopian referee failed to award Kotoko a penalty after Emmanuel Gyamfi was brought down in the box.
George Amoako has come out to condemn the act from the supporters which may lead to a fine or stadium ban from CAF should the incident be reported by the Match Commissioner.
“I will condemn this act in no uncertain terms because Kotoko has grown past these things the supporters did; it was unnecessary. Should the Match Commissioner and referees report this, we are going to be fined not less than $10,000. This can buy players for us”, he told Oyerepa FM.
Asante Kotoko is a disciplined and great team. There was no need for what happened. I condemn it. It will never be condoned,” he added.
Meanwhile, Al-Hilal Head Coach, Nabil Kouki has praised Asante Kotoko players Emmanuel Gyamfi and Songne Yacouba for their outstanding performances in the on-going CAF Confederation Cup.
Both players have scored for Kotoko in the ongoing competition with Yacouba even attracting interests from clubs across the continent.
Speaking on the performances of the two players, the Tunisian tactician said, “Yacouba is a good player, he and the number 29 (Emmanuel Gyamfi). Kotoko has a good team with good players and play well also.” –Ghanasoccernet
