LaNMMA provides furniture to 4 SHSs

The La Nkwantanang- Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMMA) in the Greater Accra Region on Wednesday presented quantities of classroom furniture to four Senior High Schools in the municipality.

The beneficiary institutions, which received the 1,000 Mono Desks each, were the Danfa Technical Institute, Madina Technical Institute, the Presbyterian Boys Secondary School, and the West African Senior High School.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Alhaji Ibrahim, who Fusseini Faila presented the items on his behalf to the beneficiary schools, said the gesture formed part of the government and assembly’s effort in addressing the logistics challenges confronting schools and promote effective teaching and learning.

According to him, the target he  set for the schools in the municipality during his inaugural address  could not be achieved without adequate logistic support, hence the gesture to provide the tables and chairs for the schools to aid in teaching and learning.

The MCE stated that apart from the Danfa Technical School which is at its tender age, the academic records of PRESEC Legon, WASS and the Madina Technical Institute were there to show and pledged assembly’s commitment to supporting the schools to perform better.

“Teaching and learning progresses with tangible results when all stakeholders play their roles effectively and as a son of Madina I pledged my commitment to do everything possible in my power during the tenure of President John Dramani Mahama to assist the schools to produce the best out of the students who in the near future would help transform their communities,” he added.

Alhaji Faila urged the schools to adopt strict maintenance culture in order to prevent the students from destroying the desks.

Mr Stephen Arthur Dadzie, on behalf of the Headmaster of PRESEC, commended the MCE for the gesture which he said would help to address one of the major headaches of the school.

The Regional Director of TVET, Mr Philip Aheto, who expressed appreciation to the MCE, stated that the furniture had come at the time when there was so much pressure on school authorities to deliver, assuring that every step would be taken to maintain the furniture.

He assured of more collaboration with the assembly to ensure that more of the youth enrolled into TVET schools in order to acquire skills to improve their lot in life after schooling.

The Vice Principal of Madina Technical Institute, Aseye Nutakor,   appealed for staff Bungalows to keep the staff, some of whom commute from far distances on the campus for the effective supervision of the students during and after class hours.

The Assistant Head Academic of WASS, Mame Kweiki Dsane, assured of periodic maintenance of the furniture and appealed to the assembly to provide more before the next batch of first year students arrive in the school.
