Legon Cities host Apostles at UG Stadium today
Legon Cities will play as the host to a newly promoted side, Young Apostles, in the Ghana Premier League matchday nine game scheduled for the University of Ghana Sports Stadium today.
The 3pm clash will afford both clubs the opportunity to climb the league log as they chase all three points at stake.
Both teams come into this game with wins from their previous games; the visitors grabbed a 1-0 victory on match day eight to pile more pressure on struggling Dreams FC, who lie last on the league log, a point below Legon Cities, who ended the ubeaten run of Asante Kotoko midweek in their matchday six outstanding game.
The victories lifted the gloom off their fortunes in the ongoing league, and today they have an opportunity to extend their wins in the league, with cities chasing their second win while Apostles chase their third.
Head coach of Legon Cities, Samuel Paa Kwesi Fabin, has urged the club’s fans to make their presence felt by filling the stadium and making their support count as they seek victory.
“I thank the fans for coming out in their numbers and helping us to victory against Asante Kotoko last Wednesday. We are up against Young Apostles on Monday, and they should come and fill the stands and cheer us up because when we saw them last week, they encouraged us to win our last game,” he stated
Young Apostles coach, Asare Bediako, is believing his boys would have another good day
away from the Wenchi base, although he acknowledges that the fixture would not be an easy one, especially looking at the victory chalked by Cities ahead of today’s game.
Referee Gabriel Opoku Arhin will take charge of the game and will be assisted by Alhassan A. Gruugullo and George A. Akisboka, while Selorm Yao Bless serves as the fourth official, and retired referee, Thomas Nunoo, acts as the match commissioner
