Let’s emulate values of late Prof. Mills – Charlotte Osei

The former Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs Charlotte Kesson-Smith Osei, has urged the citizenry to commit themselves to the values of the late President, Professor John Evans Attah Mills
The values she mentioned were honesty, incorruptibility, humility and respect.
Speaking at the 13th John Evans Atta Mills (JEA Mills) commemorative lecture held in Accra on Tuesday under the theme, “Atta Mills, A Case Study of the Fourth Republic”, Mrs Osei said that the late Prof. Mills exhibited the values of honesty and abhor corruption.
According to Mrs Osei, the values the late President exuded were necessary to promote the development of the country.
“It is important for the general public particularly the youth and the leadership of the country to emulate the qualities of the late Prof. Mills to enhance the socio-economic development of the country,” she stated.
She said that even in death, the doors of the late Prof. Mills remained opened and he also understood that the ultimate measure of any generation was not what it accomplished for itself, but what it made possible for the next generation.
Mrs Osei advised the youth to pursue excellence in their education and work, seek out mentors, be willing to take advantage of opportunities to serve others, and commit themselves to building the kind of society the late Prof. Mills envisioned.
The former chairperson of the EC urged the leadership of the country to invest in the youth and create opportunities for their development and lead with integrity and humility.
The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, who chaired the programme praised the late Prof. Mills for his exceptional leadership, humility and commitment to peace and stability.
He noted that late Prof. Mills’ leadership style was characterised by tolerance, respect for dissatisfaction with petty partisanship and above all, a principle-led leadership
