Live in harmony, peace…President’s message to 2 Dixcove chiefs

“You should continue to live in harmony and peace and remain united,” this is the message President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo gave to two chiefs, on Saturday at Dixcove in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region.

He was happy that the Omanhene of Upper Dixcove, Oberempong Hima Dekyi XIV and Omanhen of  Lower Dixcove, Nana Kwasi Agyemang IX, sat in state to welcome him ahead of his inspection of the construction of a sea defence wall at Dixcove, a fishing community, on Saturday.

President Akufo- Addo recalled that, during the 2020 elections campaigns, when he visited Dixcove, he did not meet Nana Agyeman because he was on admission at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital.

He again urged “I am happy that peace is coming to Dixcove. It’s beautiful to see the two chiefs sitting here. I appeal to you to continue to do this. I visited Nana Agyeman at Effia Nkwanta and today, we thank God he is here with us and smiling.

Dixcove, President Akufo – Addo pointed out, needed peace and unity of purpose to chart  her development path as it partnered with the government to prosecute its agenda for the country.

He told the gathering that unity and peace in Dixcove would encourage government work, uplift the face of the area and satisfy their aspirations and that of the entire Western Region.

It is recalled that the Dixcove community, had over the years, witnessed some turbulence resulting in physical abuses, after clashes between Upper and Lower Dixcove.

The Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, said the region was dear to the heart of the President, especially the construction of the sea defence wall at Dixcove.

The President later inspected the sea defence project at Dixcove which was ongoing.
