Mawuko Outreach founder receives leadership award

Dr. Isaac Mawuko Adusu, founder and executive director of Mawuko Outreach, a Ghanaian nonprofit organization, has been awarded the Outstanding Leadership in Human Services Award at the Annual Conference of the National Organization for Human Services (NOHS) held in North Carolina, USA, from November 7 to 9, 2025. This award is open to students, educators, and professionals within the human services field, acknowledging the varied contributions across different stages of career and education across the United States and beyond.

Mawuko Outreach is committed to supporting individuals with significant life challenges through education and essential social services. The day recognizes Dr. Adusu’s remarkable leadership, innovation, and dedication to improving lives across different communities, both in Ghana and internationally.

Through his work, Mawuko Outreach has impacted numerous lives, delivering programs that address gaps in services for people with disabilities, reduced health disparities, and promoted community empowerment.

Dr. Adusu described the award as both an honour and an inspiration to continue his mission. “Human services is not simply a career; it is a calling rooted in empathy, justice, and a belief in human potential. Every day, we meet people at some of their most vulnerable moments, and we walk beside them toward healing, dignity, and hope. To be recognized among so many remarkable leaders and advocates who share this mission is profoundly meaningful,” he affirmed.

Expressing his gratitude in an interview, Dr. Adusu attributed the honour to his hardworking team of volunteers and the many partners who share his vision. “This award belongs to every professional, volunteer, and advocate who stands in the frontline of service to others. In human services, we believe in the power of compassion and action to transform communities,” he said.

He also expressed gratitude to the National Organization for Human Services for this recognition, and to all who continue to do the important, transformative work every day. “Together, we are changing lives, and in doing so, we are changing the world,” he said.

Beyond his achievements in Ghana, Dr. Adusu also serves as Assistant Vice President at Seven Hills Foundation in Rhode Island, USA, where he leads strategic initiatives to improve services for vulnerable populations. His work has led to the development of effective programs, policy reforms, and the mentorship of a new generation of human service professionals.

Dr. Adusu’s leadership continues to inspire hope and positive change, reinforcing Ghana’s commitment to social welfare and community development.
