Mr John Mawuli Nyarko polled 29 votes to become the new Captain of the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) Ghana at its elections held last Monday.
He won with a six-vote difference against his sole contender, Stephen Klah who polled 23 in the election held in a healthy and serene atmosphere.
In his victory speech, Mr Mawuli thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work together with every member of the association to improve their fortunes.
For the position of Vice Captain, Mr Lucky Ayisah from the Achimota Golf Club was elected after his sole competitor, Kojo Barnni pulled out.
For the position of Tournament Director, Mr Akwasi Prempeh from the Damang Golf Club had 30 votes to triumph over Baba Akologo who recorded 22 votes.
Prempeh with be supported by a Vice Tournament Director, Prince Quaning Amponsah from the Obuasi Golf Club who recorded 28 votes against the losing candidate, Mr Anthony Gbenyo with 24 votes.
The new executive will be joined by Achimota Golf Club’s Dawuda Mahama who polled 29 votes to become the Treasurer ahead of Godwin Sai who had 23 votes.
The positions of President, Vice President and Director of Operations will, however, be appointed.
