MoFA receives major donations ahead of 2025 National Farmers’ Day

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has received significant donations from key institutions and agribusiness partners ahead of the 2025 National Farmers’ Day celebration, reaffirming national commitment to food security and agricultural modernization.
At a presentation ceremony in Accra on Friday, partners provided machinery, financial support, irrigation equipment and essential tools aimed at boosting production and improving livelihoods across the agricultural value chain.
Sino Machinery Ghana Limited donated a Y2 tractor with a trailer, plough and harrow, describing the gesture as part of its commitment to supporting farmers nationwide. The company, which supplies Sino trucks, machinery and Y2 farming products, assured the Ministry of continuous servicing and spare parts to sustain equipment performance.
Interplast Ghana contributed GH¢25,000, comprising GH¢10,000 cash and GH¢15,000 worth of drip irrigation kits, stressing the importance of irrigation as the dry season approaches. The company also pledged technical guidance to ensure proper installation and use by beneficiary farmers.
Stanbic Bank Ghana, a consistent supporter of Farmers’ Day for the past 18 years, donated a high-end tractor, reiterating its belief that agriculture is central to national development and food availability.
The Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), headline sponsor of Farmers’ Day, increased its flagship award for the 2025 Overall Best Farmer from GH¢1 million to GH¢1.2 million. It also pledged GH¢15,000 for the Best Agricultural Secondary School, support for the fisheries category, and funding for pre-event stakeholder engagements.
Development Bank Ghana (DBG) presented a tractor dedicated to research institutions advancing improved crop varieties, stressing the need to strengthen research for seed independence and higher productivity.
Crocodile Machete Ghana Limited concluded the presentations with 600 machetes, describing the donation as a tribute to hardworking farmers.
The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Mr Eric Opoku, expressed gratitude and assured that all contributions would be delivered directly to farmers and institutions to improve productivity and strengthen food security.
